"The Magic of Making Up" is a relationship book by T. W. Jackson, an ex military
man who approaches the relationship counseling world with years of experience. He claims that his research is based
on reading people, understanding their motivations, and trying modern techniques that elicit reactions.
His book website starts out dramatic, as it describes a breakup scene, one
presumably doomed because of the ill feelings involved. However, he asks the question, "What if it didn't have to
be?" From then on, he asks the reader, "What if there was a way to start over, turn back time, and get rid of all
the lovesick heartache?"
In the Magic of Making Up, Jackson states that most relationships can be salvaged.
He even states that it doesn’t really matter what has happened in the past—whether infidelity or even prison stays
have strained the relationship. What is his philosophy?

Jackson states that his methods of making up are unconventional, and a far cry
from the most common methods used by desperate lovers. Namely, repeatedly calling your ex, stalking him/her, trying
to convince him/her that the relationship should continue, apologizing profusely, promising to change and even
begging for a second chance. The author dismisses these ideas in favor of a modern approach in The Magic of Making
Up—namely through self-confidence, self-improvement and a psychological approach to communicating with other people
(namely your ex). He has counted over 50,000 customers who have used his system to their success.
Along the way, he also discusses secret ways that women steal men, and why men
leave women. These secrets, without giving away the author’s concepts, have to do with the inner motivation of
people. What they want from their partner, the feelings they cope with during breakup, and what their perspective
is when they agree to take a partner back. Indeed, understanding how a person’s mind works is the best "weapon" of
defense when approaching this complicated scenario, and this is the recurring theme in The Magic of Making
Up.
The author goes into great detail about what men and women crave from their
partners and from life in general. He warns readers that if these needs are not met, many partners will eventually
look for these qualities in the arms of other people. He also quotes statistics suggesting that 90% of all rebound
relationships fail—meaning you as the ex probably have the advantage when it comes to winning your partner
back.
Credit Jackson’s military career for bringing a certain "hard edged" approach to
dating and reconciliation. He certainly doesn’t write in the style of an academic or even "Dear Abby" who he throws
a shout out to in the website introduction. However, his concise and conversationally friendly approach may be just
what some men may need to win their ex’s heart a second time. The Magic of Making Up is currently available from
author T.W. Jackson and is available in 77 different countries.
